I was born in a small south Texas town named Victoria, known as “the best kept secret in Texas”. I graduated from Texas A&M University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing and enjoyed a first career managing bars and nightclubs. Following this, I attended California Western School of Law in San Diego, writing the model answer in Torts II, earning the American Jurisprudence Award in Advanced Trial Practice, and serving on the CWSL Gafford Trial Team.
I was admitted to the California Bar in 1997, and in 2007, the Texas Bar. After stints at Disney Interactive and Kiesel, Boucher & Larson, I joined The Law Offices of Kevin T. Barnes in 2001. I became Kevin’s law partner in 2004 and transitioned to D.Law in 2023. For the last 20+ years, I have fought for employees’ rights, almost exclusively in the area of complex wage and hour class and representative action litigation.
I was recognized as a Southern California Super Lawyer in 2004 and in the years 2019 to present. Also, I was a speaker at the Bridgeport December 2008 Wage & Hour Litigation Conference. In 2015, I received an AV Preeminent Rating as part of Martindale-Hubbell’s Peer Review Rating process. I am admitted to practice before all California State Courts, all United States District Courts in California, all Texas State Courts, the United States Court of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court, among others.
I have been married to Cindy since 2004, and we have two children, Ivy and Sam. I volunteer with the Westchester YMCA’s Adventure Guides program and at my kids’ school as a volunteer reader. Our family enjoys stage shows, movies, concerts, and camping in the outdoors.
My family and I love nature so much that we have a pond in our backyard (with pet gamefish!) and a reef aquarium in my shower.
